Medical Innovation, Digital Gaps, and Professional Training: A Necessary Alignment for Transforming Healthcare Delivery
Abstract
Modern medical practice faces a persistent tension between the continuous emergence of new discoveries and the endurance of outdated practices, often grounded in the personal experiences of their practitioners. Zuluaga-Quintero’s article explores this dilemma through a humanistic and contextual lens, emphasizing creativity as a vital tool that must not be lost in addressing clinical uncertainty. We extend this reflection by presenting evidence on digital gaps that undermine equity in access to healthcare services—particularly among older adults—and propose an alignment with the international DECODE framework for digital competencies in medical education.
