Ciprofloxacin-induced esophageal ulcers
Abstract
Antibiotics are the drugs that are most frequently associated with esophageal lesions, but there are few publications on the subject in our environment; Therefore, we report the case of a 71-year-old woman who took Ciprofloxacin for a urinary tract infection. Seventy-two hours after its ingestion, he presented with sudden chest pain. In the esophagogastroduodenoscopy, ulcers were found in the middle and lower third of the esophagus. By discontinuing the medication and receiving proton pump inhibitors, the patient improved. Twelve weeks later, endoscopic control was performed and ulcer healing was found
