Abstract

Infectio serves as the official scientific publication of the Colombian Association of Infectious Diseases. Over its 30-year history, it has played a pivotal role in disseminating new knowledge within the field. A notable example is the publication of clinical practice guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, management, and vaccination of COVID-19, which became an essential tool in defining medical and preventive practices during the pandemic. Throughout its history, the journal has published other guidelines and critical information on infectious diseases, establishing itself as a guiding light for medical practice in Colombia and a vital resource for the epidemiology and clinical practice of infectious diseases in the country. Consequently, it has become a reference source for understanding the state of infections in the tropical zone, addressing specific aspects that international journals often overlook, yet hold significant relevance in an interconnected world
