Potenciales evocados motores
Evaluación no invasiva de la vía motora en sujetos normales y en pacientes con enfermedades neurológicas
Abstract
For the first time a stimulator for Motor Evoked Potentials (MEP) using a device of local designand manufacture is presented to the national medical community. It is the result of a research that began in 1981 by which some devices, forapplication in clinical neurophysiology, were designed and built. The recordings of 42 normal subjects and the demonstration of its uses in some cases are evidence of the validity and reliability ofthis locally manufactured device. The importanceof MEP as an objetive, reproductible, easy to obtain, and of great usefulness method for the demonstration of functional abnormalities, eitherin the central or in the peripheral motor pathways,is remarkable and discussed.
