Ecografía a la cabecera del paciente en la práctica de la reumatología
Abstract
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) has gained increasing relevance in rheumatology practice, particularly over the past decade, where its use has extended beyond traditional musculoskeletal applications. This imaging tool allows for rapid, radiation-free visualization, supporting clinicians in making immediate bedside decisions. This capability is especially beneficial in resource-limited settings, where such strategies may prove cost-effective.
In the following chapter, we summarize key general information regarding musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal applications of ultrasound in rheumatology, emphasizing specific aspects of interest in each area. Finally, we provide an overview of the anticipated role of POCUS in rheumatology and its potential adaptation within the specialty
