Latin American recommendations for the management of arterial hypertension in adults (RELAHTA)
Abstract
The Latin American recommendations for the management of hypertension in adults are presented. In this first phase the most relevant aspects of epidemiology (general and some local experience), basic physiopathological aspects, relevant clinical information in the interview and in the physical examination, how to make diagnosis, secondary hypertension, complementary methods: basic and advanced, white organ injury, therapeutic guidelines (pharmacological and non-pharmacological), hypertensive emergencies, hypertension in special populations (in the older, in pregnancy, in diabetes, others), refractory hypertension, hypertension in the comorbid patient and the application of guidelines in the real life. In the next phase, and based on these chapters, recommendations will be issued in response to specific questions for primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary prevention. There are mentioned the new guidelines ACC/AHA 2017 and the position of the FIMI about the same ones
