Abstract

Leprosy is an infection caused by Mycobacterium leprae (M. leprae). Type 2 reversal reaction or erythema nodosum leprosum is rare and secondary to deregulation of the immune system after beginning anti-leprosy treatment. There are many differential diagnoses, and patient prognosis is linked to timely treatment. We present the case of a 31-year-old patient with type 2 reversal reaction or erythema nodosum leprosum, her clinical presentation, the difficulties in reaching a diagnosis and the clinical consequences of the delayed onset of treatment.
