Olmesartan-induced sprue-like enteropathy
Abstract
Chronic diarrhea is a common pathology with a wide differential diagnosis. We present the case of a patient with chronic secondary diarrhea to enterocollopathy due to prolonged taking of olmesartan. It is an underdiagnosed pathology due to ignorance of the entity, but it must be considered based on the frequency of use of the pharmacological group. In our case, the good clinical evolution after the withdrawal of the drug, shows us the need to consider it as a direct cause of the clinical picture. An adequate therapeutic approach in these patients will allow us to avoid complementary tests, unnecessary costs and will translate into an improvement in the diagnosis and prognosis of these patients.
