Synopses of primary studies
An evidence-based medicine tool
Abstract
The exponential growth of biomedical information in recent years has made the task of keeping up to date complex due to the massive information that can be accessed through the web. Nowadays, knowing the fundamentals of the so-called synopses of single studies and their usefulness in the context of clinical practice and evidence-based medicine is of great relevance for the daily practice of students and practicing physicians. This article aims to be a tool both for those who are starting in the world of evidence-based medicine and for those who wish to extend their knowledge around the synopses of single studies within the pyramidal model of information resources. The origins of the 6s pyramid model are briefly described, the synopses of single studies are explained, and information is provided on the main online sites to access these resources.
