Ecografía clínica (POCUS) en el abordaje del paciente con enfermedades infecciosas
Abstract
Infectious diseases are a frequent reason for visits to outpatient clinics and emergencies, and are associated with high morbidity and mortality. Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is a non-invasive technology that has gained attention for its practicality and ability to provide more rapid information than the traditional physical examination, aiding diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. POCUS has proven useful in a variety of infectious diseases, including sepsis, respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, dengue, and intra-abdominal infections. The use of POCUS in infectious diseases improves diagnostic accuracy and reduces diagnosis and treatment time compared to traditional medical evaluation. However, more research is still needed, including the development of standardized protocols for use in different infectious diseases and evaluation of the impact on relevant clinical outcomes
