An inoperable fibrous tumor of the pleura associated with hypoglycemia

Abstract

A 47-year-old woman with a history of a fibrous tumor of the pleura, twice previously resected, was hospitalized because of loss of consciousness. Refractory hypoglycemia was documented, and her tumor was considered to be irresectable. Hypoglycemia was persistent despite high doses of intravenous dextrose. High-dose glucocorticoid therapy was initiated, and the patient improved
