Literature and cinema in the training of doctors and medical humanities
Abstract
The use of literature and cinema to teach humanistic values to medical students creates conceptual elements of great importance in the academic framework of medical humanities. Literary and cinematographic narratives allow students to generate an ethical, historical and epistemological reflection on the perspectives of medical practice and the doctor-patient relationship. In addition, it stimulates in them the manifestations of solidarity, empathy and recognition of the human suffering of the sick ones. This article shows different thematic orientations and specific works that can serve for the creation and development of undergraduate courses in medical curricula.
