Abstract

This work aims to raise the ethical dilemmas and methodological aspects related to the evaluation of the health-related quality of life as an outcome of clinical effectiveness, taking into account that this outcome becomes more important in conditions that have no medical cure and in those which health interventions are expected to improve the way people live. In the case of people with intellectual disabilities, there is controversy not only because of the evaluation of the quality of life as an outcome but also because of the ethical and methodological considerations that its use implies.
